About the Author
Scott Meinke is a business leader, writer, and ministry founder with decades of experience navigating faith in the workplace. After a long career in the insurance industry, Scott began writing stories that explore integrity, ambition, and what it means to follow Christ when success and conviction collide. The White Stone is his first novel – born out of real-world experience and shaped by Scripture – examining the quiet decisions that define character long before they define careers.

Interview with the Author
- Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I do, and it’s been one of the most encouraging parts of the journey. I originally printed a small number of copies to share with family and friends, and the response was so positive that I decided to publish it on Amazon.
Since then, I’ve heard from a wide range of readers—business leaders using it for training, small groups and book clubs reading it together, and even seeing it make its way into the public library system.
What’s been most meaningful is that different groups connect with different parts of the story. That tells me the message is resonating in a variety of ways, which has been incredibly rewarding to see.
- Do you read the genre you write? Why or why not?
Apparently… I do now.
I discovered my book was listed on Amazon in the same category as Amish romance novels. That was news to me. I haven’t spent much time in that section, but after a little research, I realized about 90% of the top 100 books in my category are Amish romance… and the other 10% seem to involve cowboys.
So naturally, I’m considering adjusting my strategy for the sequel. Working title: The Amish Cowboy.
All kidding aside, I don’t write to fit neatly into a genre—I write to tell a story with meaning. But it’s been fun (and a little surprising) to see where the book ended up
- How did you come up with the title for your book?
The title The White Stone comes directly from Revelation 2, in the message to the church at Pergamum—the same passage that inspired the story. In that Scripture, the overcomer is given a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
That image captured something powerful for me—the idea of identity, redemption, and being fully known by God. It represents moving from compromise to conviction, from who you were to who you are becoming.
As I developed the story, that concept became central to Luke’s journey as he becomes Victor. The title isn’t just symbolic—it reflects the heart of the transformation I hoped the reader would experience along with the character.
- What’s your favorite writing snack, drink, and/or music?
I’m pretty simple—give me a Dr. Pepper, and I’m good to go.
As for music, it’s usually a mix of 80’s hits or Christian worship. The contrast isn’t lost on me… one minute it’s classic rock, the next it’s worship music. Somehow, both get the job done.
- How did publishing your first book change your writing process?
Publishing The White Stone changed my writing in two important ways. First, it showed me that the story could reach beyond my immediate circle. What I thought would be a small, personal project began connecting with readers in ways I didn’t expect, which made me more intentional about clarity, structure, and how the message comes across.
Second, it gave me a deeper sense of responsibility. With The Open Door, a sequel I am working on now and hope to release before the end of the year, I became more focused on not just telling a story, but building something that could encourage, challenge, and serve others more directly—especially as it ties into the broader message behind the series.
It’s also stretched me creatively. The sequel begins to widen the lens, introducing new tensions and a bigger picture of what it means to remain faithful over time. In many ways, The White Stone was about awakening—The Open Door starts to explore what it looks like to walk that out.
