Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

I hear from my readers but not through email or even social media. The majority of my reader interactions come from children approaching me with their parents believe it or not. They say they remember me from an author day or book festival and they love my books. Those are always the best interactions.

Do you read the genre you write? Why or why not?

I do read the genre I write. I absolutely love middle grade fiction. I have an 8, 10 and 12 year old who love to read just as much as I do. They always love sharing with me different parts in a story that are funny and I love to hear them. We especially love listening to audio books while I drive.

How did you come up with the title for your book?

My book title Liam and the Cooking Disaster came from the fact Liam cannot cook. I wanted to highlight that fact and also give hints about Liam’s Cooking Adventures.

What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given about writing?

Details! When writing, give details so the reader can imagine what is going on in the story. You don’t want to just tell them what is happening, you want to show them as well.

Is your writing space pristine or organized chaos?

Definitely organized chaos! I also don’t like to write in the same place. Where I write depends on what mood I am in. One day I might write at my kitchen table and the next day I might write sitting up in bed. Outdoors, at my desk or in my car, no space is off limits!
